Barefoot shoes for walking and everyday life
You do not have to run to enjoy minimalist footwear. Many people wear them all day — at work, at home and on holiday.
A wide toe box and a flexible sole can feel liberating if you are used to narrow, stiff shoes. Everyday barefoot shoes now look much like normal trainers, boots and even smart shoes.
Tips for everyday wear
- Start with a few hours a day and build up.
- Choose a slightly thicker sole for hard pavements and long days on your feet.
- Check your workplace dress code — there are smart, leather minimalist options.
General information, not medical advice. If you have foot, ankle or knee problems, diabetes or poor circulation, speak to a GP or physiotherapist before switching to barefoot shoes.
